Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the impious, and hath not stood in the way of sinners, and hath not sat in the seat of the pestilent.

But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law shall he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree that is planted by streams of waters, which shall yield its fruit in its season, and its leaf shall not fall, and all that he doeth shall prosper.

Not so the impious, not so: but rather as the chaff which the wind driveth away from the face of the earth.

Therefore the impious shall not rise in judgment, nor sinners in the council of the righteous.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, and the way of the impious shall perish.

1. Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

2. The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers took counsel together against the Lord and against his Christ.

3. Let us break through their bonds, and cast away their yoke from us.

4. He who dwells in heaven will laugh them to scorn, and the Lord will mock them.

5. Then he will speak to them in his anger, and panic them in his fury.

6. But I was established as King by him, on Zion, his holy mountain, announcing the Lord’s decree.

7. The Lord said to me: You are my Son. Today I have begotten you.

8. Ask me, and I will give you nations as your inheritance, and the ends of the earth as your possession.

9. You shall shepherd them with an iron rod; like a potter’s vessels, you will smash them.

10. And now, O kings, understand; be corrected, all you who judge the earth.

11. Serve the Lord in fear and rejoice in him with trembling.

12. Accept correction, that the Lord may not become angry, and you perish from the right way whenever his fury is suddenly kindled. Blessed are all who have put their trust in him.

1. O Lord, why have those who afflict me been multiplied? Many rise against me.

2. Many say to my soul: There is no salvation for him in his God.

3. But you, O Lord, are my helper, my glory, and the One who lifts up my head.

4. With my voice Icried to the Lord, and he hearkened to me from his holy mountain.

5. Ilay down and slept; Iawoke, for the Lord will help me.

6. I shall not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who set themselves against me all around.

7. Rise, O Lord; save me, O my God; for you have struck all who are vainly my enemies. You have smashed the teeth of sinners.

8. Salvation is the Lord’s, and your blessing is upon your people.

1. When I called on you, O God of my righteousness, you heard me; when I was in trouble, you set me at large;

2. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

3. O sons of men, how long will your hearts be weighed down? Why do you love vanity and seek falsehood?

4. Know, too, that the Lord has made his holy one wonderful. The Lord will hear me when I cry to him.

5. Be angry, and do not sin; for what you say in your hearts, be pricked at heart on your beds. Sacrifice a sacrifice of righteousness and hope in the Lord. Many say: Who will show us good things?

6. The light of your countenance has been marked upon us, O Lord; you have given joy to my heart.

7. From the fruit of their wheat, wine and oil they have been multiplied. I will lie down in peace and sleep at once.

8. For you, O Lord, alone have made me dwell in hope.

1. Unto my words, give ear, O Lord; hear my cry.

2. Attend unto the voice of my supplication, O my King and my God; for unto Thee will I pray, O Lord.

3. In the morning Thou shalt hear my voice.

4. In the morning shall I stand before Thee, and Thou shalt look upon me; for not a God that willest iniquity art Thou.

5. He that worketh evil shall not dwell near Thee, nor shall transgressors abide before Thine eyes.

6. Thou hast hated all them that work iniquity; Thou shalt destroy all them that speak a lie.

7. A man that is bloody and deceitful shall the Lord abhor.

8. But as for me, in the multitude of Thy mercy shall I go into Thy house; I shall worship toward Thy holy temple in fear
of Thee.

9. O Lord, guide me in the way of Thy righteousness; because of mine enemies, make straight my way before Thee.

10. For in their mouth there is no truth; their heart is vain.

11. Their throat is an open sepulchre, with their tongues have they spoken deceitfully; judge them, O God.

12. Let them fall down on account of their own devisings; according to the multitude of their ungodliness, cast them out, for they have embittered Thee, O Lord.

13. And let all them be glad that hope in Thee; they shall ever rejoice, and Thou shalt dwell among them.

14. And all shall glory in Thee that love Thy name, for Thou shalt bless the righteous.

15. O Lord, as with a shield of Thy good pleasure hast Thou crowned us.
